1. What is the Denby Dale Share Shed?

The Share Shed is a community-driven "Library of Things" where members can borrow tools, equipment, and other items instead of purchasing them. It's an initiative by the Denby Dale & District Men's Shed Association to promote sharing, reduce waste, and support local projects.


2. Who can become a member?

Anyone aged 18 or over residing in Denby Dale, Scissett, Clayton West, Skelmanthorpe, Shelley, Emley, or nearby areas is welcome to join. Membership is currently free.


3. How do I join the Share Shed?

You can register online by clicking the link at the top of the page. Upon your first collection, please bring proof of address (e.g., utility bill or driver's license) to confirm your residence.


4. What items are available for borrowing?

Our inventory includes a wide range of items such as power tools, gardening equipment, cleaning devices, and more. You can browse the full catalogue by clicking the links on the left


5. How long can I borrow an item?

Items can be borrowed for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 7 days. Extensions may be possible if the item hasn't been reserved by another member.


6. Are there any fees associated with borrowing?

Yes, borrowing fees vary per item and are listed on our catalogue. Payments are made online via debit or credit card to add credit to your member account. The minimum payment permitted is £10.00.


7. What happens if I return an item late?

A late fee of 50p per day will be charged for items returned after the due date. Late fees are capped at the full replacement cost of each item plus a £5 administrative fee.


8. Can I donate items to the Share Shed?

Absolutely! We welcome donations of items in good condition. If you donate an item, you're still welcome to borrow it back or reclaim it permanently if you change your mind. Please contact us to arrange a donation.


9. How do I reserve an item?

Reservations can be made online through our Lend Engine platform. If you need to cancel a reservation, please give us at least 2 days’ notice to receive a full refund, issued as an account credit.


10. How can local businesses support the Share Shed?

Local businesses can support us by sponsoring new items or making financial contributions to help us expand our inventory. We're proud to partner with Scissett DIY and welcome collaborations with other local enterprises. Please reach out to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
